The 10th annual Surfing for Autism event will take place on Saturday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.

Surfing for Autism provides an opportunity for individuals with autism to experience the therapeutic benefits of surfing and for families to connect in a supportive, autism-friendly environment.

The group was voted Best Non-Profit in JAM Media Solutions/OBX Today’s Best of the Beach for 2018.

Throughout the day, over 90 individuals on the autism spectrum will pair up with teachers, therapists and local surfers for an individualized surfing experience.

In addition to a fun-filled day, we hope to promote a greater awareness, understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorders and we encourage locals and visitors to come out to show support and celebrate with us.

This event is free of charge for pre-registered participants and families, and would not be possible without the support of our amazing Outer Banks community.

Surfing for Autism would like to thank all of our sponsors, supporters and volunteers for supporting our program over the past 10 years.
