Winds expected to subside after gusts over 50 mph Tuesday

It was a windy, chilly Tuesday along the Outer Banks, with a top wind gust recorded at Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet at 53 mph.

Other wind gusts records include 52 mph at the Alligator River Bridge and 51 mph at Jennette’s Pier, all between 9:40 and 11:40 a.m.

Nearly all Outer Banks weather stations recorded top wind gusts in excess of 40 mph during the day. Winds won’t be as strong today, and are expected to subside starting this evening.
