Update: KDH man charged after van strikes pedestrian, house in Kitty Hawk

Kitty Hawk police have charged a Kill Devil Hills man with two counts, and more charges are pending, after his van hit a pedestrian and crashed into a house on Lindbergh Avenue.

First responders were called to the 4100 block Lindbergh Avenue near Starfish Lane on Tuesday around 7:15 p.m.

Kitty Hawk Police Chief Joel Johnson said the van was traveling southbound when it first struck a woman running along Lindbergh Avenue, then veered off the street that runs parallel to U.S. 158 and N.C. 12 and hit the underside of a house.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries, Johnson said.

Ryan Walter Beacham, 35, of Kill Devil Hills was charged with driving left of center and careless and reckless driving. Additional counts may be sought pending further investigation.
