UPDATED: Kill Devil Hills motorcyclist remains in Norfolk hospital after Thursday crash

Kill Devil Hills police say a motorcyclist pulled out into the path and was struck by a sport utility vehicle on U.S. 158 Thursday evening, and the motorcyclist remains in the hospital with serious injuries.

The collision happened around 5:05 p.m. at the Avalon Drive intersection.

According to a police department press release, the motorcyclist is a 54-year-old Kill Devil Hills resident. She was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the SUV was a 68-year-old resident of Kitty Hawk.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time, according to the police statement, and no details regarding charges were released.
