Repairs finally complete on Wright Memorial Bridge

Good news for eastbound Wright Memorial Bridge travelers: the lane closures are all over.

Work to renovate the six-decade old eastbound span that carries U.S. 158 over Currituck Sound between Point Harbor and Kitty Hawk has been ongoing for the last two years.

Final touch-ups on the bridge supports no longer require a truck to send concrete to workers underneath. That’s why one lane has remained closed for the last several months.

Workers are also completing activation of the cathodic jackets around many of the pilings to extend their lifespan.

The overall renovation project will be completed just under six months ahead of schedule.
