Ocracoke ferry route suspended; wind gusts clocked up to 43 mph

A high wind advisory and gale warning remain in effect for the Outer Banks until early Wednesday, with wind gusts up to 43 mph clocked at Duck Pier this morning.

The N.C. Ferry Division has suspended the Ocracoke ferry route until further notice due to wind.

A wind advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday for the entire Outer Banks. The National Weather Service says sustained winds of 30-40 mph are expected to continue through the day, with gusts up to 50 mph.
