The official start of the Atlantic hurricane season is still more than two weeks away, but forecasters say an area of low pressure is brewing southwest of Bermuda.
The system could develop into a short-lived tropical or subtropical cyclone late Monday or Tuesday
while moving northward or northeastward, the National Hurricane Center said Sunday morning.
Environmental conditions are expected to become unfavorable for further development by Wednesday.
Forecasters say there is a 30 percent chance of cyclone development in the next 48 hours and a 40 percent chance over the next five days.
The hurricane center will issue an update at 2 p.m. Sunday.
