UPDATED: KDH man faces new felony charges in crash into jogger, house

A Kill Devil Hills man has been charged with driving while impaired and felony hit-and-run after an April incident in which his van hit a pedestrian and crashed into a house on Lindbergh Avenue in Kitty Hawk.

Kitty Hawk police said Ryan Walter Beacham, 35, was arrested in Dare County on Friday night.

The crash happened April 23 in the 4100 block Lindbergh Avenue near Starfish Lane on Tuesday around 7:15 p.m.

Kitty Hawk Police Chief Joel Johnson said the van was traveling southbound when it first struck a woman running along Lindbergh Avenue, then veered off the street that runs parallel to U.S. 158 and N.C. 12 and hit the underside of a house.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries, Johnson said.

At the time, Beacham was charged with driving left of center and careless and reckless driving.
