Currituck County Sheriff’s Office offers self-defense classes for women

Currituck County Sheriff Matthew Beickert has launched a free opportunity for women who live in Currituck County to learn self-defense techniques from highly-trained instructors.

Classes take place throughout the year with 20 participants at a time, and are held at the Currituck County Parks and Receration Gymnasium in Barco.

Phase one is the stand-up defense portion, followed by a class on ground defense and then the final class integrating both techniques with active scenarios.

Due to the popularity of the classes, interested participants need to sign-up in advance by sending a message to the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, call the non-emergency, office number at 252-453-8204 or email Jaymes.holden@currituckcountync.gov
