Currituck – Doris Davis Hendrix, 81, went to be with her Lord February 8, 2020 in Chesapeake, Va. A native of Currituck County, Doris was the daughter of the late Wallace and Margaret Davis. Besides her parents, Doris meets in Heaven, her husband Tim Mason Hendrix.
Following high school, Doris attended business school and landed a job at the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA. Bright and hardworking, Doris was eventually offered a position with Currituck County Government as the tax collector. She quickly earned a reputation for being the friendliest and most likeable tax collector ever. Besides her work, Doris was passionate about her family and her church. She was an active, long-time member of Rehoboth Baptist Church of Maple, NC where she will be greatly missed.
Doris Hendrix leaves her daughter, Ellen H. Owens (Buddy) of Currituck, NC; her son, Jeffrey Hendrix of Moyock, NC; her brother, Wallace Davis, Jr. (Carolyn) also of Currituck, NC; her granddaughter, Abbigail Owens of Currituck as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The memorial service will be held at Rehoboth Baptist Church Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11 am. Reverend Joe Griffith will officiate. Friends may call at the Hendrix residence at all times until the service. The family asks that anyone wishing to honor Doris with a memorial donation do so through the Alzheimers Association.
