Kill Devil Hills – Dennis Hartwiger, 69, of Kill Devil Hills, NC passed away after a brief battle with esophageal cancer, Friday, October 18, 2019.
Dennis or “Denny” as most knew him was born in Johnstown, PA October 30, 1949.
Denny served his county honorably through two tours in Vietnam.
Locally, he was professional painter with H&D Painting for several years. Denny was also a past trustee and an active member of the Kill Devil Hills F.O.E. Post 4065. Before his illness, Denny loved fishing and spending sunny days at Avalon Pier.
Survivors include his wife, Heather Shoup also of Kill Devil Hills, NC, his two sons, one sister, and other relatives. Heather will host a private memorial gathering at a future time.
